Well, it turns out the titan of trash is actually fighting to cripple our recycling laws and the composting industry. We urge to vote NO on HB 4265 and HB 4266, which would effectively repeal Michigan’s landfill ban on yard trimmings. The ban is a proactive solution for managing leaves and grass as an important resource. A new industry developed out of the ban and thrives in many Michigan communities today. Waste Management, Inc.: Stop lobbying to repeal state laws that ban yard trimmings from landfills. These critical recycling laws -- which Waste Management opposes -- have successfully diverted hundreds of millions of tons of compostable discards away from landfills, where they would pollute drinking water supplies and worsen global warming, to a thriving compost industry, which helps restore fertility to our depleted soils.
